AIAN will be a widely respected school providing a model US based educational program with an internationally minded community.

October 27, 2011.

Dear Community,

Week ten of the school year ended today. The week started with the return to school of the ACAMIS Volleyball players. They performed well and represented the school with pride. We still have work to do in terms of strengthening skills, but it was nice to see the girl's team bring home the Sportsmanship Trophy.

The International Awareness Day celebration also took place on Monday. This turned out to be a great day for the community and an excellent opportunity for everyone to learn about other cultures. Please thank the PTA for the wonderful lunch and the main organizers, Ms. Allen, Mrs. Carney, and Ms. Jenkins. The students performed well and the faculty presented really interesting activities.

This evening students participate in the Student Council sponsored Halloween activity. We hope they have a great time. Thank you to the Student Council and faculty who helped to organize the evening. Please remember on Monday, October 31 the school will also have a Halloween Parade.

Other items for you attention are,

REPORT CARDS AND PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

The school will send home report cards for the first quarter on Wednesday, November 2 through the students. Please look out for these and check your child's bag to make sure the report card gets to you. Kindly sign the envelope and return it to the homeroom teacher by Friday, November 4 so that we know you received the report card.

Parent Teacher Conferences (PTC's) are scheduled on two evenings this year so that parents have more opportunities to attend. These are Monday, November 7 and Wednesday, November 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. You may make an appointment to meet your child's teachers by calling the school office on 86869999. The appointments are for 15 minutes each.

NEW TEACHER

Ms. Kari Lanham, the new Nursery class teacher started work this week. Please make Ms. Lanham feel welcome.

I wish to thank Mrs. Ruhe and Mrs. Campos for their help, support and quality teaching of the Nursery class. These two ladies helped to cover this expansion class until we could find a suitable colleague.

HALLOWEEN DAY PARADE

The school is hosting the annual Halloween Parade on Monday, October 31. It will start at 2.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and join in. The parade starts outside in the bus park and ends in the foyer, where the PTA will distribute the candy bags. At 3.00 p.m. the students will return to class for Halloween parties. The PTA has done an excellent job preparing the school foyer for this event. Thank you!
