Other items for you attention are,

STUDENT COUNCIL

The Student Council is hosting a ˇ°Lock Inˇ± at school on Friday, December 9. This event involves all three levels of the school to varying degrees. The Elementary School will not being staying in school over night, but will be involved in a movie event from 3.00 p.m. until 6.00 p.m. and then students go home. The Middle and High School will be in school from 3.30 p.m. until the following morning and leave school at 7.00 a.m. It is very important that the school knows exactly how each student will go home after their specific event. Attached are two flyers from the Student Council that help to explain what is happening. These have also been sent home in hard copy with the students. The flyers serve as parental permission slips and the students need to return the signed slips by Monday, December 5 if they are going to attend any of the events indicated.

The Student Council is organizing and running the events. There will be adult supervision provided by the school across the whole event.

We hope that as many students as possible will be able participate and enjoy the evening.

DRAMA

The production of Macbeth has been moved to Friday, December 9 and will take place during the Student Council ˇ°Lock Inˇ± event. We apologize for moving the performance date from Thursday, December 8. All parents are of course still invited and welcome to come and watch. We believe this will work better for the students performing in the play and allow other students the opportunity to be in the audience. The performance will start at 7.00 p.m. Please see the attached Macbeth Flyer.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)

The PTA would like to thank all of the parents and teachers that attended the recent Holiday Bazaar. We would like to publicly acknowledge all of the hard work of the PTA coordinators of this big event. Valerie Rampal, Elisabeth Pauls and Carrie Koh worked very hard to make this weekend a great time for all of the community to come to the school and kick off the holiday season. We are currently having discussions on the best way to use the funds to benefit the most students.

The next event is the Teacher Appreciation Breakfast taking place on the 7th of December. If you signed up for food or to help with service, the breakfast begins at 7:30 in the canteen. There is still time to contribute if you would like! You have recently received a sheet of paper that the PTA would like your child (or you!) to fill out with some kind words for their teacher or teachers to encourage them in their hard work. Please have them filled out and put in the PTA mailbox (located at the end of the hall with all of the teacher mailboxes) by Tuesday after school so that we can give them to the teachers at the breakfast. Your help in this is greatly appreciated. Friday the 9th is the next PTA bake sale, the proceeds will be dedicated to Ms. Jenkins and her many performance expenses such as costumes and props.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to contact one of your PTA representatives at: PTA@aian.org.cn

How good is my child at spelling? This is a valid question all parents ask. Parents wish to support their children learning how to spell. Finding support materials can be difficult. You can contribute at home with some useful websites that will make your child(ren) ˇ°playˇ± instructional games while practicing their spelling skills as well.
