INTERNATIONAL BULLETIN BOARD
Our President of the School Council , Emily Ahmadi, is starting a new International Bulletin Board. Each nation in school will have a whole week to use the board to depict its own traditions and celebration of your culture. Emily will need support in gathering information and artifacts from each country to place on the board. The presentations will change every Monday. The board is in the cafeteria and contains a map of the world as a starting point. Please contact Emily if you wish to help her out with this and register your county for a time slot. So far Emily is proposing the following dates when each nationality has the opportunity to present to the community this significant information.
Feb13th-Feb19th Philippines Norway
Feb20th-Feb26th France Italy
Feb27th-March3rd Sudan Singapore

YEARBOOK PHOTOS
Individual and class photos for the SY2011/12 year book will be taken on Tuesday of next week. Please remind your child/ren of this and have them come to school looking their best on the day.
VALENTINES DAY
We have decided to use this day as an educational experience as well as one of good cheer. The writing and 6+1 processes are being used to help the students create their own cards. The students have the opportunity to say something positive, appreciative or warm about peers and friends. Guidance will be given to keep the commentary polite and of course to avoid anything embarrassing or hurtful. This activity ties in with the core values of kindness and gratitude that are being considered this month. A post box has been placed in the Foyer area so students can post cards at any time. The Student Council will deliver the cards in the afternoon of February 14.
We hope this is a positive way in which students can appreciate the sentiments of the day, whilst bringing good educational value to the classroom
FROM THE PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)
The PTA would like to announce a BAKE SALE scheduled for Valentine's Day, February 14. Please send or bring items that you would like to share for this event on that day. Also, don't forget to send some money with your student so that they won't miss out on all of the wonderful goodies from our moms. We are trying to compile the recipes from the UN Day lunch for a cookbook, but have had very few contributions. If you have forgotten to send in the recipe from your fabulous, delicious dish, and would like it to be in a cookbook, please send that to: PTA@aian.org.cn We are planning a game night for the near future, so be looking for an announcement about that.
Thanks!
THE DIGITAL SPOT
During Parent Teacher Conferences several parents asked me about educational websites related to typing. They wish to encourage their child(ren) to be proficient at typing. I have collated some websites that request registration and are free to use.

http://www.freetypinggame.net/
|
This website has a typing tutor with 30 different typing lessons that progressively teaches the keyboard. They award a printable certificate on completion! |
www.typingweb.com
|
This educational website requires registration, no fee, keeps a profile of lessons and quizzes. Very good for Middle and High School students. |
The Technology Term of the Week
Typing - is the process of inputting text into a device, such as a typewriter, cell phone, computer, or a calculator, by pressing keys on a keyboard. It can be distinguished from other means of input, such as the use of pointing devices like the computer mouse, and text input via speech recognition.
If you wish me to publish information related to a particular topic you want to learn about or use at home with your child(ren), please send an email with the specifics.
