The school Clinic of AIAN employs a full time registered nurse who is responsible for the medical care of students. The Clinic is fully equipped with first aid kits, emergency supplies and two beds. The nurse is well informed about student allergies, chronic medical problems such as asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. which should be listed on the Personal Health Record.
For minor ailments such as a skinned knee, graze, small cut, etc. the student is treated by the nurse. A treatment notice is sent home to the parents explaining any health matters that arise at school. If there are more complicated injuries, parents are immediately informed and students are transported to the hospital upon consent.
